If you’ve done any type of work you have heard of the concept of working from home. With the pandemic the world saw a rise in remote work and subsequently hybrid work. Here are 7 Interesting Remote Work Facts to Know in 2022.

1. You can Go and Live Anywhere

Remote work means that you work from your home so you don’t have to consider a commute to your home office or headquarters and for some positions no visits at all. This means you are not tied to a neighborhood, let alone state. You can also take small trips around your work schedule and continue efficient work with reliable internet access.

2. Work Life Balance

Depending on your schedule and technology your company uses, it can be easy to schedule time off. For some workers, they can also work out a customized schedule where they work later or earlier during the week to have a specific day for their children’s obligations, for example.

3. Employee Mental Health

A research study showed that 74% of workers were happier working remote and 50% of those workers would also take a pay cut to continue working remotely. It makes sense because many of the inconveniences of even just commuting are avoided.

Most importantly, 97% of workers would not only want to work remotely until the end of their careers, but they would also recommend it to others.

4. Reports show increased Productivity

Another study showed that remote workers, worked 10% more than their peers which translates to 4 extra hours per week for the company.

Surprisingly on top of this, workers take less sick days when working remotely. Although not the most peak efficient, most workers would work through illnesses like colds when working from home.

5. Savings and Loyalty Kicked back to Company

Studies done by Harvard and Stanford, showed some average companies could save up to $11,000 a year, in utilities, insurance costs, technology expenses etc., just by having hybrid work models. Hybrid work models are where employees partially work from the office some of the time but mostly remote.

In a survey from FlexJobs more than 75% of participants on a survey said they would be more loyal to their company if it offered a more flexible work set up.

6. Created Wave of Virtual Interviews

If you have noticed, with the growth of remote work jobs has seen an increase in virtual interviews and events. Of course we know we had the pandemic that increased this phenomena, but long before companies in other cities realized it may have been costly to have to constantly fly out candidates. This can save both the employers and candidates, time and money. Not to mention, now software allows for screen sharing, space sharing, presentation abilities and so much more.

7. Projected to Grow, so prepare!

Although some companies vow to never return to remote work, there has been a permanent creation of roles known as hybrid. This is where employees work in office for a portion of the week or the day, then work from home the rest.

Since before the pandemic, remote work has jumped from 4% to around 15% of jobs. Some are even predicting 25% of all professional jobs will be remote by the end of 2023.
